Watch The Balloon-U SeriesReady to see how we have become a leader in enabling product innovation in the medical device space as a Chamfr early adopter?
Watch The Balloon-U SeriesFor diameter tolerances we try to hold +/-5% of balloon diameter
Ex. 5mm balloon 5x.05=.25mm so the spec would be 5mm+/-.25mm
For length we also try to hold 5% however we are typically measuring this spec with a ruler. So the caveat to that is we do not try and hole less than +/-1mm or depending on how critical the length is to the customer +/-2mm.
Ex. A balloon with 150mm working length 150x.05=7.5mm. We would specify +/-7.5mm
Ex. A balloon with a 20mm working length 10x.05=.5mm. We would specify +/-1mm
It sounds a lot but we can hold +/-30%. However because the walls are so thin it ends up being an incredibly small tolerance
Ex. A balloon with a DWT .001” .001*.3=.0003”
Ex. A balloon with a DWT of .004 .004*.3=.0012”
The wall thickness is approximately 5xDWT. It is so variable per project just based of DWT, size and geometry that it is hard to put out a generic value.
Ex. Balloon has a DWT .002,
Proximal ID = 070 and a
Distal ID.= 050
Proximal OD = .070+.002*5=.080
Distal OD = .050+.002*5=.060
